How to generate your own product photos with Midjourney Prompts
& add text to your eCom products
PROMPT:
Salma :: 1 lipstick Salma > text product photo, High Details, HD, on white background front view, shot with Kodak gold 200, spell text correctly and clear
If you haven't done so yet, make sure to download Discord and sign in to your account. Don't forget to invite the Midjourney bot to your server as well. (see guide here)
I'm a tad late with this post, and I appreciate your patience! Last week was exceptionally busy with business (more on that later). Thank you all for bearing with me!
For those of you who already follow me on Twitter, you may have seen this post already, but here's a more detailed version of it!
First things first: Sort your settings out ⚙️ Assuming you already have your Discord set up correctly, let's adjust the settings, as they will affect how your images turn out.
Copy my settings. (see screenshot) 👇
For those of you on lower tiers or using the free trial, ignore Stealth Mode and Fast Mode, as they have no significant impact on the final output.
Second step: Keep things simple 🤌
Let's generate a packshot image of a product (a packshot is another term for a product on a white background).
In this case, I'll be creating a pack shot of lipstick (I could call myself the lipstick queen).
There are many different ways to create a prompt. In this instance, I want to keep things simple and practical, as this allows us to layer (a concept I came up with).
There are many different ways to create prompts, but for this instance, I prefer to keep things simple and practical. I refer to this approach as ‘layering’, a term I came up with for simplicity's sake. This method gives us the chance to add layers to the prompt, and I will elaborate on this further later in the week.
Here's a quick prompt formula that works great for me:
“(numeral)(product description) (style) (lighting/quality)(type of camera + colour)”
NOTE: MJ can be playful and creative sometimes. If you use Kodak "Gold" 200, it will make your main product "gold." If you don't like that, just take out the "gold." Which should leave you with the default colour (usually black). More on this later in the week.
PROMPT: /imagine 1 lipstick product photo on white background front view, shot with Kodak gold 200
If you use the provided prompt, your output should resemble this. Don't hesitate to use the re-roll (refresh) button if and when needed
Step three: let’s add some text to your product
Simplicity is crucial. Once you've generated an image, the next step is to add text. I'd encourage you to start with something simple, like your name. It may sound a little narcissistic, but this is an excellent way to test your prompt is working.
Here’s the formula:
"Your name":: descriptive text of your scene/product "name" ">" rest of descriptive text, “spell text correctly and clear”
Now let’s fill in the blanks: Salma:: 1 lipstick Salma > text product photo, High Details, HD, on white background front view, shot with Kodak gold 200, spell text correctly and clear
You should generate something like this 👇
PROMPT: /imagine: Salma:: 1 lipstick Salma > text product photo, High Details, HD, on white background front view, shot with Kodak gold 200, spell text correctly and clear
Pretty cool, huh?🤌
Step 4: Now, it’s your turn… flash us your prompts 😉
Give it a try yourself using the steps above, and create a similar image.
Feel free to share your results by tagging me on Twitter or leaving a comment here.
Remember to use the re-roll feature 🔃 if needed and don’t forget to upscale your best work, save and share!
To inspire you, here are some examples of images generated by some of my followers 👇😍
"Your name":: descriptive text of your scene/product "name" ">" rest of descriptive text, “spell text correctly and clear”
/imagine: Adidas :: 1 teeshirt Adidas > text product photo, High Details, HD, on white background front view, shot with Kodak gold 200, spell text correctly and clear
/imagine: Salma :: 1 wine bottle Salma > text product photo, High Details, HD, on white background front view, shot with Kodak gold 200, spell text correctly and clear
A big thank you to everyone who participated and created such amazing images, with a special shoutout to @davidmcomfort for his excellent work.
Next week, we'll explore more techniques related to layering and technical prompting to help you create even more impressive images.
